Sunday 30th September 2012, sees the staging of the first annual ‘Scottish Smallholder and Grower

Festival’ at Lawrie & Symington’s Forfar Market in Angus.

there was nothing in Scotland aiming to meet the needs of crofters, smallholders, those growing

About the club

E-mail Print PDF

The club was established in 1991 to promote the breed and to help breeders. One element of this is by encouraging breeders to display their pigs at agricultural shows - the shop window of the farming world. In recent years, the breed survey carried out by the BPA shows a population of around 335 pedigree sows and 80 stock boars, kept by about 100 breeders.

The Middle White Pig Breeders' Club is not exclusively for breeders and anyone with an interest in the breed or pigs in general is welcome to join. Within the club, the leading Middle White breeders will be delighted to offer help and advice to novices.

The club produces a regular newsletter circulated to all members which includes a host of articles which will interest and inspire everyone. In addition, the club offers rosettes at selected shows and there is a series of trophies to be competed for every year as part of the policy of encouraging keepers of Middle Whites into the showring. The club produces a range of quality giftware available to all who support the breed.
Pedigree registration is handled by the British Pig Association and it is necessary to belong to this organisation in order to register stock. The club encourages anyone who wishes to breed pure to register their stock and thus ensure the continuity of the few remaining bloodlines.
